I just wrote a story on my travel website about travelling with healthy snacks. This is what I do when I travel.
I have had the flu this year and I have a bit of a flare up in my arthritis. I have not been eating as healthy as I should. I know what I need to do to keep the arthritis under control but I am a foodie and a traveler. I find it very difficult. I usually am pretty good at practicing what I preach but I am not perfect and I do go astray from time to time.
I was kind of forced to start eating the right kinds of food for my body because of this last flu bug and of course it is helping with the arthritis also.
I have decided that after this Easter weekend I will get back on track so that I feel better for the summer. I want to be active and get back to my tango dancing.
There are three kinds of people that learn about the correct way to eat for arthritis or whatever ails them. They all cleanse and only eat foods that are known not to irritate arthritis. They all start to feel much better even a lot of the pain goes away.
The first group never wants to experience this again and never adds on any other foods and keeps to their new diet and program for the rest of their life. They are much disciplined or maybe just can’t stand the pain.
The second group starts adding on foods and testing to see how they feel and when they have designed the diet to there needs they stay on it most of the time. Sometimes they go astray on Birthdays, holidays and anniversaries etc. They would never eat junk or chemicals but they will eat some food that flare up the arthritis. It could be something as innocent as bread for instance, even though gluten bothers them or tomatoes or eggplant. It may not necessarily be unhealthy food just detrimental for certain people. Maybe it is bad food like pastries they have been indulging. They know just how much pain and suffering they can handle and then they go back to being disciplined again until they forget how bad it feels and start over again. This is the group that most people fall into including me.
Then there are the ones that refuse to believe that it makes any difference. They either don’t try it or try it for a few days and say it does not work. They do not want to change there lifestyle. They continue on as before only add pharmaceuticals for the pain. Go in for operations and slowly deteriorate.
This is not just for arthritis but applies to a lot of diseases especially inflammatory ones.
Maybe you would like to join in with me…after Easter that is. We will get back to those healthy snacks.
